NEW BANKRUPTCY LAW - SOME PROVISIONS EFFECTIVE NOW, MOST OCTOBER 17TH

Most provisions of the New Bankruptcy Law go into effect on Oct 17, 2005, but some provisions went into effect when it was signed by President Bush on April 20, 2005.

Learn more about key components, the affects for Secured and Unsecured Creditors, and how it will impact procedures and results at the Bankruptcy Educational Forums for Creditors, presented by Resource Management Services, Inc. ALMOST TWO THIRDS OF AMERICANS (64%) SUPPORT NEW TOUGHER BANKRUPTCY LAW, ACCORDING TO THE CAMBRIDGE CONSUMER CREDIT INDEX.
Islandia, NY - More than six out of ten Americans (64%) support the recently enacted bankruptcy legislation, which makes it considerably more difficult for debtors to discharge their debts under Chapter 7 and will force more people to repay their debts under Chapter 13 filings, according to the Cambridge Consumer Credit Index. 36% of Americans are not in favor of the toughened bankruptcy rules.

FTC SUBMITS STATEMENT TO CANADIAN PARLIAMENT ON NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY
The National Do Not Call Registry has been "enormously successful," according to the Federal Trade Commission. FEDERAL AGENCIES RELEASE FOURTH ANNUAL REPORT TO CONGRESS ON SCHOLARSHIP FRAUD

Each year, millions of students seek help in financing their college education, and some fall prey to scholarship and financial aid scams that "guarantee" money for college in exchange for a fee. In 2000, Congress passed the College Scholarship Fraud Prevention Act to help federal agencies crack down on these scams. The Federal Trade Commission and the Departments of Justice (DOJ) and Education (ED) have issued their fourth required report to Congress describing their continued efforts to combat scholarship and financial aid fraud.
