DSW INC. SETTLES FTC CHARGES
Shoe discounter DSW Inc. has agreed to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that its failure to take reasonable security measures to protect sensitive customer data was an unfair practice that violated federal law. According to the FTC, DSW's data-security failure allowed hackers to gain access to the sensitive credit card, debit card, and checking account information of more than 1.4 million customers.

U.S. ECONOMY BOUNCED BACK IN NOVEMBER, FED'S BEIGE BOOK SAYS

WACHOVIA SELLS TRUST BUSINESS TO U.S. BANCORP FOR $720M

An Illinois collection agency owned by Sallie Mae has paid a $125,000 civil penalty after an investigation by the Minnesota Department of Commerce discovered 15 violations of Minnesota law.
